As Senior Systems Engineer – Avionics & Autonomy, your mission is to own the architecture, requirements, and integration of our avionics and onboard intelligence, enabling robust communication, data processing, and system coordination within our eVTOL aircraft.
You are responsible for the system-level definition and integration of the avionics system, including computing platforms, data links, and sensor integration ascore elements. From requirements definition to verification and supplier coordination, you drive the development of a complex, safety-critical system that forms the digital backbone of the aircraft.
Working closely with flight controls, software, and mechanical teams, you ensure that the avionics system is robust, scalable, and ready for flight and future autonomous capabilities.

- Define validation and verification strategies for avionics system requirements at system, subsystem, and component level
- Lead technical discussions and negotiations with suppliers of avionics components and systems
- Coordinate the installation and integration of avionics systems across mechanical, electrical, software, and flight control teams, ensuring alignment of interfaces, responsibilities, and schedules
- Own the technical integration of avionics systems, ensuring seamless interaction of computing, communication, and sensor systems within the aircraft and validating correct system-level behavior
- Support system-level integration, ground testing, and flight test activities related to avionics systems
- Contribute to the development and integration of autonomy-enabling capabilities from a system architecture perspective
WHAT YOU BRING
- Hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Aerospace, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Bring at least 5 years of relevant experience in avionics, embedded systems, or systems engineering
- Demonstrate strong expertise in aerospace product development, including requirements engineering and requirements-driven development
- Possess a solid understanding of avionics system architectures, including computing platforms, data links, and sensor integration
- Be familiar with safety-critical development processes
- Exhibit a high degree of self-management, combined with the ability to work effectively in a team
- You are an autonomous, goal-oriented, and driven professional with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Communicate effectively and demonstrate excellent technical writing and problem-solving abilities
Moreover, it would be beneficial if you also:
- Have hands-on experience integrating avionics systems or similarly complex hardware-software systems.
- Be familiar with industry standards such as ARP4754 and DO-178/DO-254
- Have practical experience with requirements management tools
- Bring experience in managing suppliers or external partners
- Possess hands-on knowledge of data links and communication systems (e.g., CAN, ARINC, Ethernet-based systems)
WHAT WE OFFER
- Full-scale aerospace engineering, not concept slides
- A 60+ engineer team at Ottobrunn
- Real ownership and flat hierarchies: a modern startup culture where your input shapes decisions, not just execution
- Flexible working hours, remote work, and competitive compensation
