ABOUT THE ROLE

Join ERC’s flight test team and contribute to the development and certification of next-generation unmanned aircraft systems. As a Flight Test Engineer, you will contribute directly to the development and certification of our uncrewed heavy-lift VTOL platform. You will be responsible for the planning, execution, and evaluation of ground and flight tests, ensuring safe and compliant operations while generating the data needed to advance our aircraft toward certification.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Plan, prepare and coordinate ground and flight test campaigns for development and certification
  • Act as focal point for test requests from engineering and translate them into structured test plans, defining objectives, conditions and instrumentation requirements with the relevant stakeholders
  • Support the planning, installation and documentation of flight test instrumentation
  • Join ground and flight tests as remote crew member, managing and monitoring test sequence execution via telemetry from the ground station
  • Run pre-test briefings and post-test debriefings, and track the resulting actions through to resolution
  • Conduct pre-flight inspections and routine maintenance, and support the team in manufacturing and integrating the test aircraft
  • Support weight and balance calculations and measurements
  • Create and maintain test documentation, including Flight Test Cards and Flight Test Reports, and improve the tools and processes of our Flight Test Organization

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in aerospace engineering or a comparable discipline
  • Professional experience in flight test operations - test planning, execution and data analysis on manned aircraft or rotorcraft - or in the operation of drones or model aircraft
  • A solid understanding of aircraft systems, flight mechanics and flight test methodologies
  • A hands-on mindset and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic flight test environment
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel to national and international flight test locations for short- and mid-term campaigns
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills in English and German

Moreover, it would be helpful if you also:

  • bring experience with eVTOL or unmanned aircraft systems
  • know your way around EASA certification frameworks such as SC-VTOL or SORA
  • have worked with telemetry systems and flight test instrumentation
  • are familiar with data analysis tools such as Python or MATLAB

WHAT WEC OFFER

  • Full-scale aerospace engineering, not concept slides
  • A 60+ engineer team at Ottobrunn
  • Real ownership and flat hierarchies: a modern startup culture where your input shapes decisions, not just execution
  • Flexible working hours, remote work, and competitive compensation
  • Health & wellbeing: EGYM Wellpass membership and subsidized lunch in our canteen
  • Office extras: espresso coffee, fresh fruit, and soft drinks, plus regular team and company events, and plenty more once you're on board
